If your TV remote is lost or broken, an RCA universal remote can get things working again, as long as you enter the correct code. The problem is that most TV brands use multiple codes, and the first one you try often won’t work.

This guide lists all current RCA universal remote codes and explains how to program your remote using the most reliable methods. If one code doesn’t work, simply try the next. How to program an RCA universal remote (3 methods)

This is the most reliable method if you have your TV brand code.

1. Turn on the TV
2. Press and hold TV until the LED stays on
3. Enter a code from the list
4. LED turns off – test volume and power

If it doesn’t work, repeat with the next code for your brand.

Method 2: Code search (no codes needed)

Use this if you don’t know your TV brand or if none of the listed codes work.

1. Turn on the TV
2. Press and hold Code Search until the LED stays on
3. Press TV
4. Press Power repeatedly (pause between presses)
5. When the TV turns off, press Enter to save

This method cycles through all compatible codes automatically.

Method 3: Auto programming (newer remotes)

Some RCA remotes support automatic pairing.

1. Turn on the TV
2. Hold TV + Power together until the LED stays on
3. Press Play every few seconds
4. When the TV turns off, press Stop

Why your RCA remote might not be working (and how to fix it)
